Personal Recount-Day3

The fire drill is always taken seriously throughout every school in Singapore. It is an essential rehearsal in case of any emergency, which concerns life and death. We experienced a fire drill on Thursday. I found that there were lots of effort put in by the staff of Victoria School for this exercise, and their effort did pay off. The whole fire drill was carried out smoothly and in a much organised manner.
Victorians were down at the field very quickly after the announcement of the place of the fire, and nobody was rushing and pushing. I found that it was a very big improvement from the fire drill held last year. Last year, the whole fire drill took almost an hour as the students did not take the drill seriously. This year, however, it was a totally different matter. The students took this exercise seriously and it was over in around fifteen minutes.
I was having Literature when the fire bell rang. It was such a coincidence as Mr Daniel Tan was about to make Nicholas perform a stanza in a poem and he was about to perform when the fire bell rang. He was overjoyed and relieved then! We made our way calmly towards the field after the announcement on where the fire was.
In all, I found this recent fire drill was a very successful and organised one, especially when compared to the fire drill last year.

Personal reflections-Day 2

The Victoria School Dragon Boat team had won many gold medals for Victoria School. It was just this year that I realised how tedious but fun the training were. I was asked to join the team last year but I did not, I thought it was a waste of time and it would be very boring. However, it was only when our school's Dragon Boat team was seriously lack of people and could not take part in any competitions that some of us decided to join Dragon Boat this year. We did not want to see Victoria School ending a tradition that has been passed down for many years.

It was when I joined in for the first training this year that I realised I had made a right decision after all. Although the gym sessions and the physical training sessions were tiring and straining, it was fun as we were able to communicate with each other when we are doing the activities and sometimes joke about other things. I personally am fond of the gym sessions as I find that although they are very tough and tiring, there would definitely by rewards. I would be stronger at the end of the day and there was nothing to loose.

I already had two trainings this year, and both were equally fun and interesting indeed. They were both held in this week, on Tuesday and Thursday. There was no doubt that our muscles would ache but if we were to think a bit further, all this suffering would be made worthwhile.

Personal Recount- Day One

Friday was the day it all happened. Farmers are happy when rain comes. They find that they were lucky. I personally just find rain natural. However, I hated the rain on Friday for what happened that day. It was actually a typical and ordinary Friday I have known. The sky was crisp and clear before my CCA, NCC, started. White clouds floating freely on the vast blue sky, it was certainly a fine day for a vigorous training! That was what I thought. What I thought, but it proved me wrong. It was only when my physical training started that the first droplets of rain fell ignorantly on us. We felt that it was just going to be a drizzle, as the sky was not dark then. That was what we felt, but it proved us wrong again. It was half way through our run that it started pouring.
We finished our run quickly and made our way into shelter to continue our physical training. All along during our training did the rain not get lighter, but instead, heavier. You may think," What has the rain got to do with you since you are in the shelter?"
Yes, that was what we thought, what was going to affect us? There was nothing! In fact, there was. Our bags. We had placed our bags leaning against the railings, where there was little shelter. We only realised it when one of my platoon mates brought it up. I was shocked then. I did not feel like seeing the sight of my soaked bag, but I had to save it.
When I reached there, I pulled my bag further into the shelter. But as I did so, water was squeezed out. I only touched my bag and even so, water was squeezed out from it. My bag was totally soaked! I unzipped my bag and found all my textbooks drenched in water and some of my notes too. How unlucky can I get!
This only spells one thing: I would have to wash my bag when I reached home, even after this vigorous training......I just couldn’t believe my luck......

My first week in school

My first week in school went relatively well, although I took quite some time to get back into the schooling mood rather than the holiday one. Nothing spectacular happen during my first week in school though. I was also overjoyed to realise that most of our teachers are still teaching us. Although I found that the holidays ended quite quickly and abruptly, I was delighted to be back in school again. I also enjoyed sharing with my friends what we did during the holidays, especially my trip to Japan. I also aim to be a good role model to the new Secondary one students. The end of the holidays would also mean the start of CCAs. I would be going for NCC training today and is most anxious to resume it. It is the only opportunity for me to keep fit with my daily life other than the weekly physical education.
I have taken the responsibility of the physical education representative and am determined to do my best in this responsibility. This is the one of only few opportunities for me to display responsibility and leadership. I find this a learning opportunity for the good of my future career and hope to take up more responsibilities in future.
With my friends and teachers, I would give this year a good start and work hard throughout it, and would strive to reach my goal at the end of this streaming year to enter a triple science class next year. I really hope to enter a triple science and double maths class next year.
On the first day of school, I felt weird wearing the school uniform again, after two months of holidays. Nevertheless, I wore it with pride and dignity to school. First thing I felt when I set foot into Victoria School was that it was still ever so clean as before. Although there was an extra level to climb this year, the cleanliness and organised arrangement of the tables and chairs beckoned me forward to my table. The clean environment is certainly a condusive environment to study and learn. During recess that day, although the prices of the food went up a little, the food was still worthwhile. It was no doubt enjoyable on the first day of school as there were no lessons then.
On the second day however, lessons resumed and although there was much difficulty in getting into the studying momentum, I tried my best to absorb as much as I could. On the third day, today, I was starting to get use with the momentum already, with a few new teachers introduced. In whole, my first week in school went quite well.
